At the New Year’s Eve service held at Kpadia Royal Square in Toru-Orua, Senator Dickson, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, led his constituents in expressing gratitude to the Almighty for the mercies of the past year. Amidst prayers for better fortunes in 2024, he emphasized the need for peace, harmony, and the resilient Nigerian spirit to overcome challenging economic situations.
The celebrations continued at The Palace of Melchizedek, Senator Dickson’s chapel, where a choral contest marked the thanksgiving. The Senator highlighted the importance of caring for fellow human beings, a sentiment reinforced by his previous engagements where he distributed food items and cash to constituents.
Another service at the Toru-Orua Christian Centre Ark of Refuge and Mercy reiterated the same message, with Senator Dickson and the people offering praises and seeking new mercies in 2024.
In extending New Year wishes, Senator Dickson expressed hope for greater peace, stability, and understanding, both locally and globally. He thanked friends, well-wishers, women and youth groups, the choir, and clergymen for their participation in the services, expressing anticipation for future fellowships. Senator Dickson’s commitment to thanksgiving is not new, as evidenced by his past role in enacting the Bayelsa State Thanksgiving Day Law in 2012 and the construction of the Ecumenical Centre in Yenagoa during his tenure as Governor.
