Some Governors Staying Silent” – Abdullahi Sule Opens Up On High-Level Talks With Tinubu
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has affirmed that state governors have consistently maintained honesty in their engagements with President Bola Tinubu regarding the country’s prevailing challenges.
According to Ireporter Online, Sule made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television, where he explained that while not all governors openly express their views, a number of them speak candidly with the President about critical national issues. He emphasized that such frank discussions are essential for effective governance and meaningful collaboration.
The governor further revealed that the President also reciprocates this openness, noting that Tinubu has been transparent in his dealings with the governors. Sule cited recent discussions on proposed tax reforms, stating that governors clearly communicated their positions, including areas of agreement and concern, during a meeting with the President.
He stressed that honesty remains vital in the relationship between the federal and state governments, questioning the rationale behind withholding the truth while claiming to oppose the President. Sule acknowledged, however, that some governors choose to remain silent during such engagements.
Highlighting recent interactions, the Nasarawa governor disclosed that insecurity was a major topic during their latest meeting, with Tinubu himself raising concerns about the persistent security challenges across the country. He added that the President also revisited the issue of state policing, seeking input on how to address ongoing threats and improve safety nationwide.
