During the distribution of empowerment items to his constituents in Zaria, Kaduna State, Speaker Abbas revealed that President Tinubu supported his aspiration without any prior personal acquaintance, relying solely on his qualifications and public profile.
“The President backed me purely on the strength of my track record and reputation. Despite having never met me, he chose to support me over other nominees after reviewing my credentials,” Abbas said.
He further lauded Governor Uba Sani for his early and consistent support, particularly during a time when several members of the previous state administration withheld their endorsement. Abbas described Sani as a critical ally who maintained his commitment even before officially assuming office.
“Governor Sani stood by me when many others didn’t. He pledged his support before his inauguration and remained true to his word afterward. His contribution to my political journey is immense, and I urge my constituents to offer him the same loyalty and support they give to me,” he stated.
Reaffirming his loyalty, Abbas said, “Nothing will break the bond between me and Governor Uba Sani. I remain committed to him, through rain or shine. Come 2027, we will demonstrate our full support in Zaria and across Kaduna State.”
In his remarks at the same event, Governor Sani praised Speaker Abbas for his proactive leadership and the numerous development projects he has attracted to Kaduna State. He expressed full endorsement of the Speaker’s initiatives and reiterated their partnership for the continued progress of the state.
“Speaker Abbas has done remarkably well in bringing people-centered projects to our communities. I am aware of all his efforts and fully support him. God willing, he will make history by serving as Speaker for two terms,” the governor noted.
As part of his empowerment program, Abbas distributed a wide range of items, including:
-
117 vehicles, comprising 20 Hilux trucks, 2 ambulances, 20 18-seater buses, 50 Sharon vans, and 25 sedans (Golf, Corolla, Peugeot 406)
-
200 tricycles (Keke NAPEP)
-
1,000 motorcycles
Beneficiaries spanned various sectors, including religious organizations, women groups, security agencies, local party offices, educational and healthcare workers, as well as members of the NURTW, NUT, and NUJ.
The large-scale distribution underscores the Speaker’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and infrastructural development within his constituency.
