Nigerian award-winning singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that fans should not expect new music from him in the meantime as he steps back from active recording.

According to Ireporter Online, the Afrobeats star made this known during a recent livestream session with Davrel, where he announced what he described as an indefinite musical break. Davido stated that he does not feel pressured to release new songs in order to maintain his relevance in the industry, insisting that his existing catalogue continues to dominate major playlists and club rotations.

“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. Like I said if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So I am on a musical break,” he said during the livestream.

Beyond music, Davido also shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s emerging celebrity boxing scene, describing the development as impressive and a positive addition to the entertainment industry. He expressed approval for the growing interest in the sport among public figures and entertainers.

“I am actually impressed by the celebrity boxing tournament. It is a welcome development,” he added.

The comment comes shortly after streamer Carter Efe defeated controversial singer Portable at the Chaos in the Ring 4 celebrity boxing event held in Lagos. The bout saw Carter Efe crowned winner by unanimous decision after three rounds, with all three judges scoring it 27-30 in his favour.

Following the loss, Portable alleged that the fight outcome was manipulated, claiming the match was halted unfairly to avoid financial payouts tied to wagers placed on his victory.
