T.D. Jakes Shares Details Of Near-Death Heart Attack Experience

T.D. Jakes, Senior Pastor of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, has opened up about a life-threatening health scare he experienced last year during a church service.

The 67-year-old pastor was preaching in November when he suddenly paused, began shaking, and lowered the microphone, which caused alarm before church officials assisted him off the stage.

In an interview with Craig Melvin on the TODAY show, Jakes revealed that he had suffered a massive heart attack. Despite not feeling any warning symptoms, doctors later informed him that he had been preaching with only half of his heart functioning….READ MORE….

Jakes explained, “I didn’t realize what was happening until I got to the hospital in an ambulance. I was upset that it happened onstage because I didn’t want it to. The doctor leaned over and said, ‘You had a massive heart attack.’”

He went on to say, “I didn’t have the usual symptoms – no numbness, no sharp pain, nothing. I just kind of drifted off to sleep, unaware of what was happening. I almost died.”

The doctor told him that if he had waited just five more minutes, he would have been dead upon arrival. Jakes explained that the right side of his heart had completely stopped receiving blood. He felt fine while preaching, but once he sat down, the adrenaline wore off, revealing that a clot had caused half of his heart to shut down, prompting emergency intervention.
