Eddie Hearn Reveals Anthony Joshua Is In The “Final Year” Of His Boxing Career

Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua is approaching the final stage of his illustrious boxing career, with plans for one to three more fights before retiring from heavyweight boxing.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Hearn discussed Joshua’s careful consideration of the end of his career, including potential high-profile bouts against contenders like Daniel Dubois, Tyson Fury, or Joseph Parker.

“This is the final year,” Hearn stated. “We must accept the reality that he may have between one and three fights left, depending on the circumstances, but that’s part of the journey.”

A potential rematch with Joseph Parker is gaining traction. The two first met in 2018, with Joshua winning by unanimous decision in Cardiff. Since then, Parker has been on a winning streak, defeating notable opponents such as Martin Bakole, Zhilei Zhang, and Deontay Wilder, and is now the WBO mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk’s title.

Joshua may also have the chance to challenge for the WBO title. Parker’s promoter, David Higgins, expressed excitement about a rematch, saying, “The world would love to see him face AJ again. Given his recent performances, Joseph Parker could present a real challenge.”

Hearn pointed to two exciting prospects for Joshua’s final fights—a rematch with Dubois or a long-awaited bout with Tyson Fury.
