US Condemns Killing Of Cameroonian Soldiers In Lake Chad Basin Attack

The United States has strongly condemned the killing of Cameroonian soldiers who were serving as part of the Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad Basin.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the US Embassy in Yaoundé extended condolences to the people of Cameroon, calling the attack a “heinous” act of terrorism.

It continued, “On behalf of the American people, we offer our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of the Cameroonian soldiers who lost their lives in defense of Cameroon and the region.”

The statement praised the soldiers’ dedication and sacrifice for regional safety and security, stating, “Their commitment to fighting terrorism remains a powerful testament to their unwavering resolve in ensuring the safety and security of Cameroon and the region. They will not be forgotten, and their legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”

The US also expressed solidarity with the people of Cameroon, saying, “We stand with all Cameroonians as they mourn the loss of their fellow citizens.”

On March 24, Boko Haram insurgents launched an attack on a military base in Wolgo, Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria, resulting in a gun battle that claimed the lives of several soldiers.
