Tears Flow As Gunmen Kill 2 Newly-wed Teachers In Plateau School

Gunmen have tragically killed a recently married couple who were educators at BECO Comprehensive High School in Kwi, located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to the state’s police spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, the audacious gunmen also wounded the school’s vice-principal during the incident that occurred on Monday.

While DSP Alabo didn’t provide further details, he assured the public that the police command was actively addressing the situation.

In the meantime, Rwang Tengwong, the national publicity secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, released a statement on Tuesday expressing deep sorrow over the incident.

Mr. Tengwong conveyed, “We are deeply saddened by the attack on BECO Comprehensive High School Kwi by armed gunmen. A recently married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Rwang Danladi, both teachers, were tragically shot and killed. The Vice-Principal of the school, Mr. Dalyop Emmanuel, was severely injured by the assailants.”

He explained that the teachers were conducting a meeting to finalize student results in preparation for the school’s 2023 Speech and Prize-Giving Day scheduled for the upcoming Friday.

“The injured individual is currently receiving medical treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital,” he added.

Mr. Tengwong voiced concern about the increasing presence of criminals in certain communities within the state.

“We urgently call on security forces to conduct operations in these communities that have become havens for criminals, particularly Fass and Mahanga in Riyom. It’s essential to eliminate these elements that are flouting law and order,” he urged.
