Rabiu Mukhtar Emerges APC Candidate for Jigawa By-Election Amidst Consensus and Unity

Rabiu Mukhtar has been officially declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer for the upcoming by-election in the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, according to iReporter Online.

This announcement was made by Ismaila Ahmad Gadada, Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, following the party’s primary held on Saturday at the Duplex event center in Babura.

Mukhtar emerged as the sole consensus candidate, receiving unanimous endorsement from all 110 delegates across the 22 wards of the constituency.

According to iReporter Online, the primary exercise was witnessed by members of the seven-man election committee, security operatives, and APC supporters, with proceedings reported to have been peaceful and well-coordinated.

Speaking after his emergence, Mukhtar Rabiu expressed deep gratitude to Governor Umar Namadi, APC leadership, and party faithful for the confidence placed in him.

He particularly commended the transparent and orderly conduct of the exercise. The candidate assured constituents of his commitment to youth empowerment and the creation of sustainable job opportunities to uplift the local economy.

The by-election, according to iReporter Online, was necessitated by the death of Hon. Isa Dogon Yaro, who passed away on May 10, 2024, at the age of 46. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the election for August 16, 2025.
