President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), in a move aimed at strengthening leadership within the country’s biosafety regulatory framework.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, signed by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Chris Ugwuegbulam, the appointment takes immediate effect for an initial tenure of four years, in line with the provisions of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act of 2015.

The statement noted that Dr. Zuntu brings extensive experience in public health administration and policy development, having contributed to several impactful programmes across Nigeria, particularly in the health sector and public service delivery.

It further stated that her professional background positions her to effectively steer the affairs of the agency and advance its mandate. President Tinubu, in his directive, urged her to deploy her expertise toward strengthening the agency’s objectives and supporting national development priorities.
