Ubani Calls Out Natasha Akpoti, Insists On Public Apology For ‘Disorderly Conduct’ In Senate

Legal expert and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Monday Ubani, has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to acknowledge her actions and offer an apology following her recent heated exchange in the Senate chamber……..READ MORE

Ubani criticized the senator’s approach, describing her conduct—marked by shouting and disruptions—as inappropriate and a violation of parliamentary decorum. While recognizing her right to fair hearing and self-expression, he questioned whether her reaction was the best way to address her concerns.

Referring to Senate rules designed to uphold order and discipline, Ubani warned that disregarding them could set a negative precedent. He recalled a similar incident involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Bukola Saraki’s tenure, highlighting how Akpabio eventually apologized after understanding the rationale behind seat rearrangement.

He urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to embrace humility, reconsider her actions, and tender an apology, warning that those currently supporting her may not stand by her in the long run. He also appealed to the Senate leadership to handle the issue without disciplinary measures to prevent unnecessary escalation.
