in a statement on Friday that the incident disrupted the 132kV transmission line supplying electricity to the Central Area and surrounding neighborhoods. The attack occurred near Millennium Park in Abuja, resulting in the theft of 40 meters of XLPE conductors from two transmission lines.

TCN’s Response

Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, assured the public that engineers have been deployed to repair the damaged infrastructure. However, she noted that power restoration would take time.

“The vandalized cable transmits bulk electricity to our 132kV Central Area Transmission Substation, which supplies power through eight distribution feeders to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for onward delivery to customers,” she explained.

Call for Vigilance

TCN urged citizens to report suspicious activities to security agencies to prevent further attacks. “Protecting transmission equipment and installations is crucial for the development of the nation’s power sector,” the statement added.
