According to Ireporter Online, former Super Eagles winger John Utaka has advised Victor Osimhen to seriously consider a move to Real Madrid should José Mourinho take charge of the Spanish giants and specifically request his signing.

Osimhen is currently concluding his second season at Galatasaray, where he played a pivotal role in securing the club’s 26th league title. The Nigerian forward has continued to impress, registering 15 goals and five assists in 22 league appearances this season, further strengthening his status as one of Europe’s most coveted strikers.

Transfer speculation surrounding the 25-year-old has remained persistent, with reports of interest resurfacing across the last three summer transfer windows. Recent developments from Spain indicate that Mourinho, who is presently managing Benfica, is engaged in discussions over a potential return to Real Madrid.

The Portuguese tactician is being considered as a possible solution to restore stability at the Santiago Bernabéu following a challenging campaign under Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa, with the club expected to undergo a significant squad overhaul that could include the search for a new centre-forward.

Utaka, meanwhile, believes Osimhen would thrive under Mourinho’s leadership at Madrid, stating that such a move would align with the striker’s ambition to win major trophies.

“If I were Osimhen, I would go because if Mourinho has requested him, it means he really wants him. Osimhen wants to win trophies and Real Madrid is a perfect fit,” Utaka was quoted as saying via Brila.

Mourinho is understood to have followed Osimhen’s development closely over the years, having previously faced him in Serie A during his spell at AS Roma while the Nigerian starred for Napoli. The Portuguese manager has at different times praised Osimhen’s qualities, even drawing comparisons with Didier Drogba, while also noting areas for improvement in his game.

Osimhen’s future remains open amid continued interest from top European clubs, with Barcelona also monitoring his situation ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The Catalan side reportedly view him as an alternative option to Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, who is valued at around €200 million.

Galatasaray, however, are reluctant to sanction a sale and are believed to have set a €150 million valuation on the striker as interest in his signature continues to grow across Europe.
