According to reports, the conflict began when traditional worshippers were passing through the area and an altercation broke out with some Muslim youths. The dispute escalated into widespread violence, leading to the burning of houses, religious centers, and business establishments.

The violence, which started on Sunday night, continued into Monday morning, despite the arrival of police officers and soldiers. Residents, including women and children, were seen fleeing their homes for safety, and business activities were forced to shut down.

As of the time of reporting, DSP Alabo Alfred, spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, had not yet commented on the situation. However, Major Samson Zhakom, spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), assured that authorities were monitoring the situation.

Community members have called for increased deployment of security forces to restore peace and prevent further escalation of the crisis.
