Wale Ojo Premieres New Comedy Film, ‘This Is Not A Nollywood Movie

Actor Wale Ojo has unveiled his latest film, This Is Not a Nollywood Movie, at a star-studded premiere held at iMax Cinemas, Lekki. The event attracted movie enthusiasts who turned out in striking outfits to witness the debut of the production, which is produced by Boma Akpore.

Shot across Nnewi in Southeast Nigeria and Lagos, the film features a blend of veteran and emerging actors, including Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Brother Shaggi, Bimbo Akintola, Chidi Mokeme, and Hanks Anuku. Ojo, known for roles in films such as Breath of Life and The Man Died, showcases a new side of his talent through comedy, marking a distinct departure from his previous dramatic roles.

The story follows a struggling actor who, alongside his close friend, leaves his village in Nnewi to pursue a dream of creating an internationally acclaimed film in Lagos. The narrative highlights their journey, blending humor and drama, while exploring themes of ambition, resilience, and cultural identity.

Speaking ahead of the premiere, Ojo described the film as “full of laughter and action” and emphasized its uniqueness within Nigerian cinema. He expressed hope that audiences would appreciate the unexpected elements woven into the storyline and credited the production’s challenges to the ambitious nature of the project.

On the production budget, Ojo revealed it was “very expensive,” acknowledging the significant investment made in both the filming and promotion of the movie.
