Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy is set to take the global stage once again as he joins Colombian pop icon Shakira on the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Ireporter Online, the upcoming track titled “Dai Dai” is scheduled for release on Thursday, May 14, ahead of football’s biggest tournament. Shakira announced the collaboration through a teaser shared online, expressing excitement about the project and confirming both artistes’ involvement in the official song for the global competition.

The partnership marks a significant milestone for Burna Boy, who becomes only the second Nigerian artiste to feature on an official FIFA World Cup anthem, following Davido’s appearance on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, running from June 11 to July 19. The tournament will kick off at Estadio Azteca, with the final scheduled to hold at MetLife Stadium.

Burna Boy’s inclusion further strengthens his growing influence in global football culture, having previously been involved in UEFA Champions League-related projects and performing at the 2023 Champions League final in Turkey. However, it remains uncertain whether both Burna Boy and Shakira will perform the anthem live at either the opening ceremony or the final of the tournament.
