during a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt that he and his camp would not have supported the PDP if the presidential ticket had been allocated to the North. According to Wike, his primary focus is on fostering unity within Rivers State, and he firmly believes that the question of betrayal is unfounded in this context.

Speaking at the event organized in his country home, Wike clarified that his political endeavors are dedicated to promoting the unity of Rivers State. In an effort to underscore this commitment, he recounted a visit with some PDP leaders to the National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Giadom.

Wike emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in moving the state forward, transcending party lines for the greater interest of Rivers and Nigeria as a whole.

He urged all stakeholders to accept the decisions made by President Buhari, citing the President’s previous willingness to take risks, such as appointing Wike as the Minister of FCT despite public protests. Wike called for unity, encouraging both APC and PDP members to work together in support of the President’s decisions for the collective advancement of the nation.

Addressing accusations of betrayal, Wike asserted that he and his supporters had consistently communicated their principles to the public, maintaining transparency and integrity throughout the process.
