aimed at fostering collaboration with International Oil Companies (IOCs) and development partners. The keynote address delivered by Minister Abubakar Momoh outlined critical issues and sought support for the comprehensive development of the Niger Delta Region.

Emphasizing the importance of synergy among key stakeholders, particularly IOCs and development partners, Minister Abubakar Momoh highlighted the meeting’s focus on promoting greater collaboration to achieve the region’s development goals. Despite financial challenges, the Minister affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fast-tracking development through extra-budgetary provisions, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts to effectively fulfill the Ministry’s mandate.

Several areas for collaboration were identified, including the promotion of peace and security in the region, training and empowerment of youth and women, the establishment of the Host Community Trust Fund in accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), addressing gas flaring and environmental concerns, implementing a Strategic Implementation Work Plan (SIWP), expediting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, and combating oil theft and bunkering.

Minister Abubakar Momoh concluded the address by soliciting support and collaboration from IOCs, industry players, and major stakeholders. His optimistic outlook emphasized the potential for a productive interaction, with shared resources, expertise, and a collective vision aimed at bringing the region’s development goals to fruition. As the Niger Delta Development Ministry charts this collaborative path, it sets the stage for a strategic and impactful partnership with IOCs for the prosperity of the Niger Delta Region.
