In a statement issued by SCSN’s President, Sheik AbdulRasheed Hadiyahtullah, and Secretary, Malam Nafi’u Ahmed, the council urged the EFCC to take legal action against those found complicit in financing activities that undermine national security. This comes after Olukoyede disclosed that the EFCC had uncovered a religious sect laundering money for terrorists and another religious body harboring a money launderer.

The council called for the publication of the list of sponsors involved in criminal activities and emphasized the importance of prompt legal actions against sponsors and individuals complicit in activities threatening the nation’s peace and security. The statement stressed the gravity of the situation and urged the EFCC to collaborate with relevant authorities for swift legal interventions.

“We urgently call upon the EFCC to publish the list of all sponsors involved in criminal activities. The alleged disclosure of N7 billion linked to a religious group’s account is a matter of grave concern, and citizens demand proper legal action against sponsors and those found complicit in financing activities undermining the nation’s security,” the statement read.

The SCSN emphasized the need for public clarification on the religious group allegedly sponsoring terrorism and urged decisive action to address the concerning connection between religious groups and insurgency in Nigeria.
