Fatal Accident: Man Crushed By Cable Drum In Lagos
Tragedy struck along the Ojo-Igbede Road in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State as a yet-to-be-identified adult male lost his life after being struck by an electric cable drum. According to Hundeyin, the victim’s body has been transferred to the morgue for autopsy and preservation, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are underway.
“The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation. An investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin stated.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday while a forklift was in the process of lifting armoured cable drums. Tragically, one of the cable drums disconnected and fatally struck a passerby who, reportedly, was engrossed in using his phone while walking. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries en route.
Detectives from the Ilemba-Hausa division visited the scene to conduct inquiries into the incident. Additionally, the owner of the company responsible for the operation has been apprehended for further questioning.
As investigations continue, authorities are determined to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident and ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
