Police Arrest 20 More Yoruba Nation Agitators In Ibadan; Recover Ammunition

Earlier reports had indicated the invasion of the Oyo State House of Assembly complex in Ibadan by Yoruba Nation Agitators, who attempted to take control of the area. Some of the agitators were reportedly seen in military uniforms, while others wore plain clothes and carried placards with various slogans.

Two of the agitators were arrested earlier.

Following this incident, two agitators were initially detained. However, in the latest update from the police command, it was confirmed that twenty more individuals were arrested. Among the items seized from them were three pump-action guns, 29 live cartridges, two expended cartridges, 67 cutlasses, five bulletproof vests, and six pairs of boots.

Additionally, the agitators were found in possession of 10 Public Address Systems, three berets with Oodua insignia, seven belts, 11 Oodua Nation camouflage uniforms, one unregistered bus, and three motorcycles.

The Police spokesperson in the state, SP Adewale Osifeso, emphasized that law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with other security bodies, effectively thwarted the attempt by the agitators to forcefully seize control of the secretariat.

Osifeso condemned the actions of the suspects as criminal and unpatriotic, constituting treasonable felony and terrorism. He assured that appropriate legal actions would be taken against them, and law-abiding citizens would be safeguarded.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Adebola Hamzat, has initiated an investigation and expanded the search to apprehend any other individuals involved in the incident.
