Khalid Bichi, an employee of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) who was fatally shot last Friday in Maitama, Abuja, was planning to tie the knot in December this year, according to his uncle who spoke with Daily Trust yesterday.

Ireporteronline had earlier reported the tragic incident in which Bichi was killed by unknown gunmen just before 9 pm while he was out with a friend to get food.

During the interview, the deceased’s uncle, who chose to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisal, revealed that the 31-year-old had joined the FIRS Lagos Office a year earlier and had recently been transferred to Abuja.

“He was an easy-going person and a young man with vision,” the uncle said. “He got employed at the FIRS Lagos office about a year ago and was transferred to Abuja just two weeks ago. He had only spent three days in the Abuja office before the incident happened.

“The deceased was planning to get married in December this year. We are all devastated. Who knows who the next victim will be? I learned this past week, four people were shot at different locations in Abuja, the seat of power. It’s really worrying.”

In his plea for justice, he stressed the urgent need for a thorough investigation by the government and security agencies to apprehend the culprits, emphasizing the importance of implementing measures to protect lives.
