Kaduna Sets Date For Local Government Elections: Residents Prepare For Voting-Day

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has officially set the date for the local government elections across the state.

Hajara Mohammed, Chairperson of KADSIECOM, disclosed during a meeting with political parties and stakeholders that the elections across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) will take place on October 19, 2024.

Mohammed clarified that the current council members, who took office on November 1, 2021, will conclude their term on October 31, 2024.

“According to section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, we hereby announce that the LGA council elections will be held in Kaduna on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” stated the KADSIECOM chairperson, as she unveiled the election timetable on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

She assured stakeholders that the commission has finalized the election guidelines and schedule, ensuring readiness to conduct a successful election process.

In response to another development, Governor Uba Sani expressed deep condolences over the passing of Honourable Ekene Abubakar Adams, a respected member of the House of Representatives. Adams, who served as Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, passed away on the morning of July 16, 2024, following a brief illness.

Governor Sani praised Adams as a pioneering and courageous figure in politics and administration, extending sympathies to his family and constituents in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.
