APC National Chairman: Saliu Mustapha’s Candidacy And Its Turning Point For The APC.

Political parties are indispensable for the working of modern democratic governments. The importance of political parties lies in the fact that democracies cannot function without the existence of political parties.

In all fairness the All Progressive Congress, APC has done very well for itself as a party, it has surpassed all political predictions and has against all odds blossomed more than expected.

With the commencement of the party’s national congress, it is anticipated that much is expected from the outcome. What kind of leadership are party members presuming?

Even Nigerians, in general, are looking forward to the personalities that would emerge as officers of the political party, the expectations are enormous.

For the party organogram itself much is envisaged on how the party would prosper with its new officers. You see no matter how high a bird can fly, it still has to look for food on the ground, the APC having achieved so much in just a few years of its emergence can beat its chest and say yes it is a perfect success story, yet the party with its huge gains recorded so far would still need to seek for new members to sustain its success.

No doubt the race for the party national chairmanship seat would be the cynosure of all eyes as to whom much is given much is also expected.

So far many political gladiators have indicated an interest in the noble contest and of course, party members have in turn switched their attention to the likely contestants and earnestly await who would finally wear the crown.

In reality, every member of every organization wants the best for itself, all they want is equity, fairness,  transparency, and accountability only a few bad eggs always crave selfish desires, and to this party stakeholders are hopeful of new changes that are devoid of the normal business as usual approach from party officials.

They insist it is high time the party transforms to a fully digitalized and effective leadership that is optimal in approach to party issues and reforms.

So wherein lies the bridge that stakeholders are optimistic of a fresh breath? Ever heard of the name Saliu Mustapha?

Let me tell you why party members are optimistic that the emergence of Alhaji Saliu Mustapha as the National Chairman of APC may just be the turning point in which the party stakeholders earnestly plead for.

APC as the ruling party would need to perform the role of trustee on behalf of the electorates who bequeathed their trust in them.

Political parties formulate policies and when canvassing for votes from the electorates promises are made which ought to be fulfilled when elected. So wherein lies the excuses of non-performance if the party leadership ensures elected officers on its platform adhere strictly to its manifestos. Politcal party need leaders that are capable of acting as a checker to elected officers under its platform.

Alhaji Saliu Mustapha is seen as a competent hand who would drive the vision of checks and balances in the party as regards elected representatives.

According to party stakeholders, a chairman in the mold of Alhaji Saliu Mustapha is needed in reviving and reaffirming the APC progressive ideology in actions and deeds. They see him as a bridge-builder between the elders and other stakeholders of the party. All they claim to seek is a conducive atmosphere where APC as a party in its full entity would be creative and ideologically driven.

A new era where members of the party who have ideas on how to move the nation forward can be able to bring up such ideas to be explored by the party. They want a National Chairman who can consolidate political stability that can stand the test of all seasons for decades to come.

Party stakeholders have bemoaned the lack of leadership grooming by political parties in Nigeria and look forward to a new APC where leaders are made. The essential function of any political party is to recruit men of integrity to be prepared for future elections.

Alhaji Saliu Mustapha is the Turaki of Ilorin and a shining star in the political space, political pundits have opined that his emergence may just be the turning point in APC.
