Ooni Of Ife Honours Baba Ijesha With Chieftaincy Title, Gifts Luxury Items And Brand-New Car

According to Ireporter Online, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, alongside luxurious gifts and a brand-new car.

Baba Ijesha disclosed this in a Facebook post, sharing photos of himself and his wife, Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo, kneeling before the monarch during a royal visit to the Ile-Ife palace. The actor revealed that the Ooni warmly received them and honoured him with the title “Baba Awada Konge Oduwa,” meaning “father of comedy meets Oduduwa.”

Expressing gratitude, Baba Ijesha appreciated the monarch for the royal reception, fatherly affection, and the generous gifts, including a brand-new car, describing the gesture as humbling and deeply meaningful.

He also extended appreciation to the palace chiefs and reaffirmed his honour as a son of the soil, saying he felt privileged by the recognition bestowed on him.

The visit marks one of his public appearances following his release from prison in November 2025, after serving time for charges of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault. He was initially sentenced to 16 years by a Lagos High Court in 2022, but the sentence ran concurrently, resulting in about five years in custody.
