Residents Applaud Lawmaker, Dennis Idahosa Over Motion Addressing Deadly Gully Erosion At UNIBEN

Residents of Iguo-Efosa, Iquo-Hana, Iguo-Efo, Ekosodin, UNIBEN and environs all located in Ovia North East Local Government Area, of  Edo State, have applauded the lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Dennis Idahosa for once again crying out to the federal government concerning the deadly gully erosion presently eating deep into their environs.

The gully erosion has been causing severe damages to the infrastructure and ecological environment of the University and its adjoining communities.

Yesterday the lawmaker on the floor of the house raised a motion urging the house to mandate the relevant federal authorities to do the needful in averting a complete cut off of the University of Benin and other communities from other parts of Edo state.

Aside from the devastating gully erosion rendering so many families homeless and jobless it has completely taken the livelihood from others.

The house in turn urged The Federal Ministry Of Works and Housing and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to commence remedial work in the affected communities to restore access to the University and other parts of Edo state.

Also, the house mandated the Ecological Funds Office and the Nigeria Erosion and Water Shed Management Project (NEWMAP) to urgently collaborate to seek a permanent solution to the erosion menace facing the University and surrounding communities by funding and constructing alternative routes to the University.

So many residents have taken to different platforms to applaud the motion moved by the youthful lawmaker.
