“A Person Who Shows No Interest Or Friendship Is A Red Flag” – Singer Tems

According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has shared her non-negotiables in a romantic relationship, identifying major red flags she avoids in potential partners.

In a recent interview with American media outlet Complex, the singer emphasized that she cannot be with someone who is unfriendly or lacks curiosity about her. The ‘Love Me Jeje’ star explained that the foundation of any meaningful relationship is lost if a partner shows disinterest or fails to connect on a personal level.

Tems, who describes herself as a “lover girl,” noted that her caution in dating stems from previous experiences. She stated, “Someone who is not trying to be your friend is a red flag. Anybody who isn’t curious about you is also a red flag. Because what are we doing? Why are we here if you don’t want to know me? If he or she doesn’t want to know more about you, end the relationship.”

Beyond her personal life, Tems also reflected on her remarkable career journey. During an online interaction with her fans on X, she revealed that her achievements in music have surpassed her expectations.

Tems began her professional music career in January 2018 after leaving her job as a digital marketer. That same year, she released her debut single, ‘Mr Rebel,’ which garnered media attention. Her international breakthrough came in 2020 when she featured on Wizkid’s hit track ‘Essence.’ The remix with Justin Bieber propelled the song to number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning Tems global recognition.

When asked by a fan whether she had achieved her dreams prior to fame, Tems responded, “I’m looking forward to whatever the Lord has in store and honestly I’ve achieved beyond my dreams from when I had a 9-5.”
