Air Strikes: Defence-Headquarters Announces Destruction Of Terrorist-Camps (Details)
The Defence Headquarters has announced that the Air Components of Operation Whirl Punch have successfully destroyed multiple terrorist camps operated by notorious commanders, Bello Turji and Halilu, in Zamfara and Katsina States over the past week.
Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday. He stated that the newly discovered camps were identified through Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) before being targeted with rockets and cannons.
“Feedback indicates that several terrorists, including some commanders, were neutralized by the airstrikes. However, we do not have confirmation of the deaths of Bello Turji and Halilu at this time,” Buba said.
He also reported that a similar air interdiction took place on June 8 over a terrorist enclave in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists and the destruction of their structures, according to the Battle Damage Assessment.
Furthermore, on June 6, an air interdiction targeted a senior terrorist commander’s enclave in Tsaunin Doka, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This operation reportedly eliminated several high-profile commanders and destroyed their logistics, as confirmed by local feedback.
“On the same day, ISR confirmed terrorist activities in a camp within Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger, leading to the elimination of several terrorists,” Buba added.
The successful operations highlight the continued efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to combat terrorism and enhance security across the nation.
