In an exclusive interview during the 2025 Grammy Awards red carpet, Asake explained that his transformation was driven by a desire for comfort and self-expression. “I wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin,” he said, adding that the change was a personal decision. “This is how I feel right now, and I might wake up tomorrow with a completely different look.”

Asake also expressed gratitude for his Grammy nomination in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category for his hit song ‘MMS.’ Despite losing to Tems, he reflected, “I feel blessed and honoured to be part of the nominees. Many people aspire to this, and I’m just grateful to be among them.”
