BREAKING: Supreme Court Takes Decision On Judgment In Atiku’s Appeal Against Tinubu (DETAILS)

The Supreme Court has deferred its judgment on the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Court that upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the recent presidential election.

Justice Inyang Okoro, leading a seven-member panel of the court, announced this following the adoption of briefs of argument and final submissions by the counsels to the parties.

The Apex court also entertained arguments from the lawyers representing the parties regarding Atiku’s motion to present new evidence on allegedly forged documents.

Chris Uche, counsel for Atiku Abubakar, urged the court to grant the motion, uphold their appeal, grant the requested prayers, and disqualify Tinubu.

Counsels for the Respondents, Abubakar Mahmoud for INEC, Wole Olanipekun for President Tinubu, and Akin Olujinmi for the APC, urged the court to dismiss both the motion and the appeal for lack of merit.

Upon reconvening, the court addressed the appeal of the Allied Peoples Movement. The party was advised to withdraw its appeal as it lacked specific prayers for determination.

Subsequently, counsel for the APM, Machukwu Umeh, withdrew the appeal, and the Respondents did not object to the withdrawal.

The Apex court subsequently dismissed the Appeal.

The appeal of the Labour Party (LP) is currently in progress.
