The scheme aims to provide working citizens with access to loans for essential purchases.

In an interview with Channels TV, Nwagba expressed astonishment at the overwhelming response since the first phase was unveiled by President Bola Tinubu in April.

“It has been overwhelming. We didn’t anticipate such a high volume of applications or expressions of interest shortly after I assumed office. As of today, we have about 1.6 million Nigerians who have shown interest, provided details of their occupations, submitted income information, and stated their credit needs. We didn’t foresee such a large turnout. It seems people have been attentive to the President’s remarks and are eagerly awaiting this opportunity,” Nwagba remarked.

Addressing his responsibilities six weeks into his tenure, Nwagba expressed readiness to lead the current administration’s efforts to expand consumer credit accessibility for interested working Nigerians.

“It’s our duty, and we’re ready to adopt a systematic approach to ensure that we systematically cater to Nigeria’s demographics,” he affirmed.
