Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, revealed this decision after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Abuja.

Keyamo explained that the FEC approved the cessation of exemptions for airport tollgate fees, following his presentation highlighting the substantial revenue loss due to exemptions. Initially, only the president and vice president were exempt, but Tinubu directed their inclusion in the fee-paying category.

The minister expressed regret that wealthy VIPs had been avoiding payment, while only less affluent individuals were charged. He emphasized the need to rectify this disparity.
