the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) have urged a comprehensive investigation by federal agencies.
While five bodies have been recovered, three people remain missing. In response, NLC President Joe Ajaero emphasized that a complete investigation is essential to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He noted that one of the crew members belonged to the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE).
PANDEF described the incident as a somber day for Rivers State, calling for investigators to leave “no stone unturned” in uncovering both immediate and underlying causes.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) also reported intensified search and recovery efforts, with Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, detailing the expanded search area and the deployment of diving teams to secure a perimeter at the suspected crash site.
The NLC highlighted the critical need for stringent safety frameworks in aviation and oil and gas sectors, underscoring that only a thorough investigation can yield insights to improve worker safety and prevent future incidents.
PANDEF’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, stressed the importance of this inquiry in honoring the lives lost and in preventing further tragedies.
