Desperate Job Seekers Beware: Abia Govt Takes A Hard Stance On Bribery In Teacher Recruitment
The Abia State government has issued a stern warning against bribery and extortion in the ongoing teacher recruitment process, approved by Governor Alex Otti.
Last week, Otti authorized the hiring of over two thousand teachers to address the state’s educational needs and alleviate the shortage of teaching staff. Thousands of job seekers have applied for the positions.
In response, the government raised concerns about certain dishonest individuals who may exploit the situation, warning that “unpatriotic elements” could attempt to manipulate the process for personal gain.
A statement from Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, reassured the public that the recruitment will be transparent and fair. The recruitment process is being conducted online by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
The statement emphasized that no form of bribery or compromise would be tolerated in the selection of teachers. It further warned that anyone attempting to undermine the process would face severe legal consequences.
Ekeoma encouraged applicants and the public to report any requests for bribes or unethical behavior, including from government officials, to ensure the integrity of the recruitment process.
