In a candid interview with The Times of London, Gates said that the divorce process was emotionally draining for both him and Melinda. He expressed his sadness at not being able to replicate his parents’ 45-year-long marriage.

Reflecting on the divorce, Gates stated, “If you were to ask, that would definitely be at the top of my list of failures. There were others, but none as significant. The divorce was miserable for both of us for at least two years. It is the biggest mistake I regret.”

Despite the challenges, Gates and Melinda remain in contact for family events, as they share three children and two grandchildren. He shared that their children are doing well and uphold strong values.
