Devastating Blows For Obaseki, Ighodalo, And Their Struggling PDP As Akpata’s Billboards Dominate Edo State, Making A Bold Statement
The frontrunner in the imminent Edo State governorship election, Olumide Akpata, and his widely embraced gubernatorial ambition continue to cause the sitting party and administration led by Obaseki relentless headaches.
Last week, images surfaced on the internet showing billboards erected in various parts of the state by the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and his campaign team, revealing that Obidients, the largest political movement in Edo State, have decided to throw their support behind him. This revelation sparked negative reactions from the populace.
Shortly after these images circulated online, Obidients in Edo State and beyond disavowed the message, labeling it as propaganda by Ighodalo and his team. They also urged Obaseki and his ineffective administration to explore innovative ways to bring light to areas in Edo State, like Isihor, that have not had electricity for over a year, a situation that has led to massive protests in the vicinity for several days. Additionally, they called for a resolution to the escalating flood crisis across the state rather than focusing on propaganda to garner votes and engaging in irrelevant political moves such as conflicts with the Oba of Benin and the Palace.
Supporters of the Labour Party, known as Obidients, have also formally reiterated their loyalty and support towards their party’s gubernatorial candidate, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata’s governorship ambition, asserting that he is the best choice to lead the state due to his exemplary track record and impressive curriculum vitae.
In a strategic move to demonstrate their support for Akpata, Labour Party supporters have begun erecting billboards across the state with slogans such as, “E Shock Dem Olu Na Our Guy” and “E Don Do Edo People Must To Matter”
