Empowerment Initiative: Tinubu’s Technical And Vocational Education Aide-Supports Nigerian Entrepreneurs With Solar-Kiosks (Details)

In a significant move to bolster entrepreneurship and technical skills across Nigeria, Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (SSAP-TVEE), has empowered Nigerian entrepreneurs with 80 made-in-Nigeria solar kiosks. This initiative aims to provide practical support and resources to aspiring business owners, enhancing their capabilities to succeed in their ventures.

Arogundade recently facilitated the empowerment of Tijani Oluwatobiloba, a single mother and hairdresser, by presenting her with a solar kiosk and financial assistance amounting to N500,000. This support was delivered at an event held at Wuse Shopping Plaza, Abuja, where Arogundade underscored the importance of not only imparting skills but also providing tangible resources to foster business growth.

Earlier initiatives by Arogundade included the allocation of N100 million to 120 beneficiaries from the UNLOCK training program, further demonstrating a commitment to advancing vocational and entrepreneurial skills nationwide. The distribution of solar kiosks forms part of a broader strategy to empower entrepreneurs who lack physical business locations, facilitating their entry into the market and promoting economic sustainability.

Speaking at the event, Arogundade highlighted the collaborative efforts to develop diverse programs aimed at supporting individuals in need of skills enhancement and funding to elevate their businesses. She emphasized the role of trained artisans in constructing and maintaining the solar kiosks, ensuring ongoing support and operational efficiency for the beneficiaries.

“The solar kiosks are designed to be flexible for the beneficiaries, allowing them to relocate as needed without constraints. Our goal is to continue providing training opportunities and empowering entrepreneurs across various sectors,” Arogundade affirmed.

Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Onyejeocha, commended Arogundade’s initiative and highlighted the resilience of Tijani, who persevered through adversity to support her family as a single parent. She expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his commitment to improving the welfare of the less privileged in society.

In response, Tijani expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu, Minister Kennedy-Onyejeocha, and SSAP-TVEE Arogundade for the transformative impact of the empowerment package on her business and livelihood.
