Falana urges ECOWAS to convene an extraordinary session to address the alarming erosion of human rights and the rule of law in Senegal.

In a statement released by Falana and Falana Chambers, Falana emphasized the urgent need for ECOWAS to take decisive steps in response to President Macky Sall’s decision to delay this month’s elections, citing disputes over candidate eligibility as justification.

Falana’s plea includes a call for targeted sanctions against President Sall and his government officials responsible for undermining democratic principles and the rights of Senegal’s citizens. These measures, including travel bans and asset freezes, are seen as necessary to hold accountable those perpetuating serious violations of democratic norms.
