Federal Government Takes Decisive Action: Elephant Tusks Valued At $11.2 Million Destroyed

These tusks, seized from wildlife traffickers, were destroyed in a move aimed at sending a stern message against illegal wildlife trade, showcasing the current administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting its valuable elephant species.
In a parallel development, President Bola Tinubu has authorized the release of N18.4 billion to settle the outstanding group life assurance claims owed to the families of deceased soldiers since 2011. This announcement was made by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.
Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, during his operational visit to the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu.
Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja, while emphasizing the importance of loyalty, discipline, and dedication among troops, urged them to remain vigilant in eliminating various forms of criminality across the country.
He cautioned against being influenced by misinformation on social media, underscoring the Nigerian Army’s commitment to discipline and adherence to established rules and laws within host communities or states.
The COAS further highlighted the significance of the welfare of troops and their families, mentioning ongoing projects initiated by the army at the headquarters and the Abakpa Military Cantonment.
President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of officers and soldiers was acknowledged, emphasizing the continuous efforts to ensure their well-being remains a top priority.
