The bandits not only robbed the children of their freedom but also claimed the life of a 53-year-old baker, Mr. Tijani Amedu, during the abduction.

The horrifying incident unfolded as the victims, mostly children and relatives of the deceased, were returning to Kaduna after spending the holidays in Warri, Delta State. The bandits, armed and ruthless, attacked the two buses carrying the family. While the first bus managed to escape, the second bus, carrying Amedu and the 13 children, fell victim to the criminals’ onslaught.

Rasaq, the brother of the deceased businessman, revealed that the family discovered the fate of the children when they began communicating from their captivity. The kidnappers, demanding a staggering N200 million initially, have now negotiated the ransom down to N50 million.

Tragically, Amedu lost his life during the ordeal, with Rasaq stating, “My elder brother’s head was hit and he fell (leading to his death).” Zinab, Amedu’s wife, confirmed the devastating loss and pleaded for prayers and assistance, emphasizing the dire situation of the 13 children still held captive.

While the family grapples with the traumatic situation, the Kaduna State Police has promised to investigate the matter. However, the agonizing wait for the safe return of the abducted children continues, highlighting the urgent need for decisive action to address the growing menace of kidnappings and insecurity in the region
