Historic Backing: Nigeria Champions UN’s First Global Advocate For Peace, Maryam Hassan!
The Nigerian government has pledged unwavering support to Maryam Bukar Hassan, the newly appointed United Nations Global Advocate for Peace, as she embarks on her mission to foster unity and peace worldwide.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who made this announcement on Monday in Abuja, described Maryam’s appointment as well deserved, highlighting her role as the first person to hold this position within the UN’s entire Peace and Security Pillar.
According to iReporter Online, during a courtesy visit by Maryam and her team to the Presidential Villa, VP Shettima praised her consistent peace advocacy, especially noting her viral video titled “Violence has no Religion.”
He called the video the crowning glory of her career and said he has watched it more than a hundred times for its inspiring message.
The Vice President also applauded her commitment to addressing challenges and aspirations in her home state of Borno, emphasizing the importance of local engagement in peacebuilding.
Furthermore, according to iReporter Online, Shettima assured Maryam of Nigeria’s full backing throughout her tenure, emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu’s administration, being pro-youth, will do everything possible to support her efforts.
He expressed confidence that with Nigeria’s vast resources properly managed, the nation can achieve greatness through peace and unity.
Maryam, in turn, reiterated her dedication to promoting peace both globally and within Nigeria, stressing that collaboration is key to overcoming the country’s security challenges.
