In a shocking turn of events, a South African church service celebrating Easter turned into a scene of horror when a husband shot and killed his wife, identified as Funanani Mbedzi, who was serving as a worship leader. The tragic incident unfolded in the Makonde Shadani village, outside Thohoyandou, with the perpetrator unleashing multiple gunshots at his wife while the congregation was engaged in worship.
Confirming the devastating occurrence, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for Limpopo SAPS, disclosed that the assailant fled the church premises following the fatal shooting. However, after two days on the run, the suspect surrendered himself to the police.
While the motive behind the heinous act remains unclear, authorities suspect domestic violence as a possible cause. Ledwaba emphasized that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect’s licensed firearm, believed to have been used in the crime, has been confiscated.
In a separate development, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has stirred controversy by accusing a Nigerian clergyman named Chris of defrauding her of N25 million. Ogala alleges that Chris was entrusted with the sum by someone to deliver to her but only handed over a portion, claiming the sender had remitted less. She asserts that Chris has resorted to threats and blackmail to silence her demands for the outstanding amount.
Ogala’s accusations against Chris have sparked a heated exchange, with the actress maintaining her stance and demanding full restitution of her funds. The unfolding saga raises questions about trust and accountability within religious circles, as well as the prevalence of financial exploitation.
As investigations into both incidents continue, the South African community mourns the loss of Funanani Mbedzi while the Nigerian entertainment industry grapples with allegations of financial impropriety.
