IPOB Condemns Enugu Cattle Ranch Proposal By Governor Mbah
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vehemently opposed Governor Peter Mbah’s proposed establishment of a cattle ranch for Fulani herders in Enugu State, asserting that it poses a grave threat to the region’s security and indigenous communities…..READ ALSO IPOB’s Stand: The Unwavering Resolve Amidst Legal Limbo
In a resolute statement issued by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB demanded the immediate halt of plans to set up the ranch at Nimbo in the Uzowani community, stressing that such ventures must be privately managed by Igbo entrepreneurs if at all they are to be permitted.
The group staunchly declared, “IPOB will not allow the establishment of any murderous camp for jihadist Fulanis in the name of cattle ranch anywhere in Enugu State.”
Emphasizing that only Ndigbo should own and manage cattle ranches within Igbo territory, IPOB cautioned against any collaboration with Fulani interests, warning of dire consequences for those involved.
Furthermore, IPOB urged South East Governors to reject the notion of establishing cattle ranches in the region, underscoring its commitment to thwarting any encroachment on Biafra territory by Fulani herders.
The statement comes amidst protests from residents of the Uzowani community, who vehemently oppose the governor’s plan, citing past violence and loss of lives inflicted by herdsmen in the area.
With chants of “Nimbo doesn’t want Ruga, Nimbo doesn’t want cattle, Nimbo doesn’t want Ranch,” the community members echoed their steadfast resistance to any initiative perceived as a threat to their safety and livelihoods.
