Kaduna State Government Declines To Respond To Bashir El-Rufai’s Criticism Of Governor Uba Sani
The Kaduna State Government has opted not to address the recent criticism leveled against Governor Uba Sani by Bashir El-Rufai, the son of the immediate-past governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Governor Sani had highlighted the substantial debt inherited from his predecessor during a town hall meeting, citing challenges in meeting the state’s financial obligations……READ ALSO Bashir El-Rufai Blast Governor Uba Sani Over Complaints Of His father leaving behind A Huge Debt
Governor Sani disclosed that the previous administration left behind a significant debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities, which has severely constrained the state’s finances, leading to difficulties in paying workers’ salaries.
In response, Bashir El-Rufai took to social media to criticize Governor Sani, accusing him of contract inflation and forex speculation while attributing his administration’s poor performance to excuses about the debt burden. El-Rufai also alleged that Governor Sani often stayed away from the state and surrounded himself with incompetent aides for political patronage.
However, Mohammed Shehu, the governor’s spokesman, stated that Governor Sani would not dignify Bashir El-Rufai’s remarks with a response. Shehu emphasized that Governor Sani had already addressed the state’s financial situation truthfully during the town hall meeting and stressed the enormity of the challenges facing the state government.
Shehu reiterated that the state government remains focused on addressing critical issues and would not engage in trivial exchanges. He affirmed Governor Sani’s commitment to tackling the state’s challenges transparently and effectively despite the obstacles inherited from the previous administration.
