Kogi Fires Back At EFCC, Brands N80bn Allegation Against Yahaya Bello “Laughable

The state government, through its Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, expressed dismay at the EFCC’s decision to include Bello’s name in an amended charge, describing it as a collaboration with “criminals masquerading as politicians.”
Fanwo ridiculed the EFCC’s move, highlighting inconsistencies in the timeline of events, noting that Bello could not have conspired to commit the alleged offense in September 2015, as he was not in office until January 2016.
The statement lambasted the EFCC for what it termed a baseless accusation, emphasizing that Bello had no financial dealings with the state government before assuming office, thereby refuting any claims of conspiracy to convert state funds.
The Kogi State Government’s robust defense underscores its commitment to shielding Bello from what it perceives as politically motivated attacks, painting the EFCC’s actions as a departure from the fight against corruption envisioned by the nation’s leadership.
