This assurance was given by Mr. Damilare Orimoloye, the Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sports, during a discussion with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikeja on Saturday.

Orimoloye confidently stated that Governor Sanwo-Olu would commission a total of five stadiums, which include the revamped Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, along with Ifako-Ijaye, Agege, and Ikorodu Stadia, as well as the Gbagada Football Pitch.

He emphasized the significant ongoing infrastructural developments within the sports center, anticipating a vibrant year for sports and sporting activities in Lagos State in 2024. The goal is to extend sporting activities beyond Lagos Island, fostering inclusivity across the entire state.

The Teslim Balogun Stadium underwent closure for remodeling in 2021, with enhancements such as the installation of covered spectator stands and the re-grassing of the football pitch.

Orimoloye, also a board member of the Lagos State Football Association, highlighted the importance of providing accessible venues for the youth to explore and showcase their talents, emphasizing the role of sports infrastructure in engaging and steering young individuals away from negative influences.

Echoing these sentiments, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar, the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, expressed confidence that the remodelled Teslim Balogun Stadium would set a new benchmark for sports infrastructure in Nigeria.
