LAPO Boosts Agriculture With N17.58bn Funding For Rural Farmers

Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) has disbursed ₦17.58 billion to 130,184 rural farmers and allied businesses across Nigeria.

According to iReporter Online, Dr. Victor Noruwa, LAPO Executive Director of the Microfinance Segment, disclosed this while speaking to journalists in Benin over the weekend, noting that the disbursements occurred between January and June 2025.

He explained that the ₦17.58 billion represents a 35.66% increase compared to the ₦12.96 billion disbursed during the same period in 2024.

According to iReporter Online, Noruwa emphasized that this growth reflects the organisation’s progress in empowering rural farmers and agribusinesses nationwide.

The financial support was delivered through LAPO’s Agricultural and Rural Development Initiative (LARDI), the organisation’s economic empowerment arm.

According to iReporter Online, the funds were accessed via 341 LARDI branches across 22 states, highlighting LAPO’s commitment to inclusive rural financing.

Noruwa urged beneficiaries to use the resources wisely to boost productivity and develop sustainable agricultural ventures.

He added, “LAPO remains dedicated to improving income, food security, and the living conditions of rural households, with particular focus on women-headed homes and youth-led enterprises.”
