LG-Autonomy Gains Momentum As Campaign-Group Hails Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for championing the call for financial autonomy for the local government authorities in the country.
National Coordinator of No Alternative to Tinubu-Shettima 2023, Vincent G. Uba gave the commendation while calling for more support for the president.
It will be recalled that the Supreme Court on Thursday, delivered a judgement, granting local government autonomy.
According to Uba, “One of the best things that has recently happened to this country and, which this President has boldly championed, is the local government autonomy. With the landmark judgement of the Supreme Court, this is definitely going to see to the phenomenal development of the rural areas of Nigeria. No right-thinking Nigerian would not be happy about this Supreme Court judgement.”
While asking Nigerians to continue to support the government, Uba said President Tinubu has the interest of the country at heart.
According to him, “Let us look at it from the angle of parenting, where a parent whose children are very sick to the point of dying, decided to administer painful and curative measures or bitter pills to heal the sick children so that they would not die. On the other hand, for fear of the pain the children would undergo and their cries as a result of the painful curative measures and the bitterness of the pills, a parent decided not to administer the same, which eventually led to their death.
“Definitely, it is the former parent, not the latter one that is wise, loving, caring, and responsible.”
Uba also commended Mr. President for fighting corruption, adding that
the students’ loan scheme is another plausible achievement of the administration of President Tinubu. “Nigerians owe the President applause rather than erroneous condemnation. We should rally around him, support and pray for him rather than castigate him, as instructed in the bible verses of 1 Timothy 2 verse 1- 4 and Romans 13 verse 1,” Uba said.
