During the inauguration in Abuja, Gaidam emphasized the necessity for revisiting key aspects of the Act to address pertinent issues. These include concerns regarding the constitution of the Board of Trustees, its functions and management, contractual agreements, limitations of authority, and funding mechanisms.

The Minister urged the committee to meticulously analyze the Act, identifying areas necessitating modifications and providing substantiated justifications for prolonged relevance beyond the initial six-year period. Additionally, he encouraged consultation with various stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, to garner insights on global best practices and adaptability to local contexts.

Comprised of members from the Ministry of Police Affairs, NPTF, Nigeria Police Force, and Ministry of Justice, the committee has been allotted a two-week timeframe to deliver its findings to the ministry’s management.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in Nigeria through legislative refinement and strategic reforms.
