Netizens React As Labour Party Group In Edo South Unexpectedly Back APC’s Okpebholo?In a surprising turn of events, a faction of the Labour Party in Edo South Senatorial District has declared their support for Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming 2024 Edo Governorship Election. The group, known as the Obidient Movement, cited Okpebholo’s strong ties to the local community and his commitment to effective leadership and accountability as reasons for their endorsement.

During a solidarity visit to Okpebholo in Benin City, the Coordinator-General of the Obidient Movement, Comrade Ikhuenbor Felix Igbinevbo, expressed their rationale behind backing the APC candidate. “We supported Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election because we felt it was the turn of Igbos. And in Edo, it is the turn of Esan and we need the most qualified candidate that will work for everybody in the state and not a stranger,” Igbinevbo remarked.

The decision to support Okpebholo, according to Igbinevbo, aligns with their core values of promoting good governance, justice, and community responsibility. He emphasized that the Obidient Movement is committed to ensuring that the next governor of Edo State prioritizes the needs of the people and implements policies that benefit all residents, regardless of ethnic background or political affiliation.

In response, Okpebholo expressed gratitude for the endorsement from the Labour Party group, acknowledging their faith in his leadership abilities. He called on the citizens of Edo State to reject underperformance and vote for change in the upcoming election. “If they have done well, I would not have contested. I urge you to punish them with your votes because if you leave it for them, our unborn children will suffer,” Okpebholo passionately asserted.

Promising to surpass the achievements of the current administration led by Governor Godwin Obaseki in his first year in office, Okpebholo assured the Obidient Movement and the people of Edo State that he would uphold their trust and deliver on his campaign promises.
